Solar Arts Building #InstaHappyHour

  • Solar Arts Building (map)

Join Preserve Minneapolis and MNCommunity on July 31 at the Solar Arts Building for a tour!

The second and third floors, including Burkhart Design Studio and Chowgirls Killer Catering's amazing space (featuring Johnny Cash's former bar) will be open for us to explore.

The photogenic Solar Arts Building was constructed around 100 years ago to house the Twin City Cord & Tire Co. and warehouse space for Sears Roebuck Co. In more recent years the space was entirely abandoned and neglected. Current owners Duane Arens and Larry Brandt saw in it a gem of an opportunity.

From the Solar Arts Building website: "They retained the historic character of the building – with it’s well-worn wood and cast iron – and renovated it using only the most eco-friendly materials and equipment. They then topped the whole thing off – literally – with 109 solar panels to let the sun power the pure creativity of its tenants."

We'll wrap up at Indeed Brewing Company for social hour and a pint (or two).
