SOLD OUT -- Brew Houses of Lowry Hill East Walking Tour

  • Mueller Park (Courtyard/Picnic Area) 2509 Colfax Avenue South Minneapolis, MN, 55405 United States (map)

The first families of Minneapolis brewing in the 19th century were the Glueks, Muellers, Orths and Heinricks. After the breweries consolidated around 1890, the second generation desired to live among the new middle class in the newly developed Lowry Hill and Sunnyside suburbs. Walk with local historian Kathy Kullberg to see where and how they lived. End the tour with a "cold one" at the LynLake Brewery at 2934 Lyndale Avenue South on a hot August Saturday afternoon. A tour of the brewery is also included, with a discount on brews.

Please note that this tour ends at the LynLake Brewery, which is about 3/4 a mile from the starting location.

The tour walks about 1 mile and is ADA accessible.

Tour guide Kathy Kullberg is an active preservationist and avid house historian who is a longtime resident of Lowry Hill East. Currently, she is researching the history of Lowry Hill East's Bryant Avenue and Ice Racing on Lake of the Isles. Kathy is always discovering the true lives of former residents and their contribution to Minneapolis's past and present.
